In the year 1960, Ramon Magsaysay, the 3^rd President of the Republic of the Philippines made a program entitled “LAND OF THE LANDLESS” this means that every Filipino Citizens that have no land can have it free throughout the Philippines. The said free land was found in the Province of Isabela.

And so when he was heard and known by the people of Mountain Province the landless people their which was so called Igorots or Kankanaey were from a group and proceed to the said free land through the leadership of a one brave man Mr. Benito Sarol.

When they are the  said place, they found out that it was a part of San Mariano Town and it was called “CAMMA” before. They are not also the only group who interested on the said free land  because they saw some people their like Kalinga, Ilocano, and as days  past by, here comes the other groups of different tribes like Cagayans or  Gaddangs,Pangasinense, and other.

In the year 1963, the different tribes as mentioned above become as one and made a plan to let their land be measure and to be registered. They also made an agreement that Mr. Benito Sarol become the leaderof the group. They went to the municipality of San Mariano to look for the Mayorto tell about their plan but Mayor Bueno Disapproved their plan because “CAMMA” is too far to San Mariano municipality.

The group of Mr. Benito Sarol go back home unsuccessful but they don’t lose their hope. So, they made another plan, they went to the municipality of Cauayan under the administration of Honourable Faustino N. Dy before. They communicate to the mayor and tell about their problems and luckily the mayor accept to become a part of administration.

Therefore,through the help of Hon. Faustino N. Dy mayor of municipality of Cauayan,the land cultivated by the group of Benito Sarol were measured and titled to each of them until they registered as one barangay of the municipality of Cauayan but the mayor suggested to change Camma as the name of their barangay. So the group think if what name they will use until they suggested the name of ROSITO DE VERA, the oldest man among them in the group. He belongs to the Ilocano tribes.

And so, the plan pursue. The camma was registered as Barangay De Vera, municipality of Cauayan, Province of Isabela .Through the approval and acceptance of Mayor Faustino N. Dy and through the leadership of a brave man and hardworking man Mr. Benito Sarol.

At the present, the Barangay De Vera is one of the barangay of Forest Region of Cauayan City, Isabela with the total land area of 8299.280 square meter. It has a type of said suited in the production of corn and banana while vegetable comprise a smaller area. 

The barangay is dominated by Ilocanos and Gaddangs, while Igorots and Kalinga compose of smaller group. Roman Catholic is the major religious organization while Bethany, Born Again, Iglesia ni Cristo compose of smaller portion. Most of the residence engage in farming while others earn their living as laborers, carpenters and housemaid.
